The Family Dental Center opened July 10, 2000 in the Twin Arch Shopping Center in Mt. Airy, Maryland, Southern Carroll County. The office moved 7 miles north to our present location in a house on Route 27 (Ridge Rd.), also in Mount Airy, Md. This office opened on December 5, 2005.

Sonia Clesner, DDS

Dr. Clesner grew up locally in Wheaton, Maryland. She graduated from the University of Maryland dental School in 1982. She has been practicing throughout the Washington Metropolitan area for 26 years. She is licensed in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia.

Dr. Clesner belongs to several dental study clubs and attends meetings monthly on different areas of dental interest.

For 16 years she taught and coached swimming locally to developmental swimmers, age groupers and college swimmers. She has coached nationally and internationally. Her interests are swimming, sewing, music, her nieces and nephew, and creating new methods of educating the public about dental care.

Chrissie Thompson

Chrissie is the office manager with over 20 years of office experience. She is responsible overseeing that our office is ran smooth and efficient. Chrissie also handles the billing and insurance claims and works diligently to make sure all insurance issues are handled efficiently. She will greet you on your arrival to our office and is there to calm those patients who are nervous about dental treatment. Her main goal here is to make sure you have a pleasant experience at this office and all of your needs and concerns are addressed.

Chrissie grew up in Mt. Airy and is still local to the community. Married for nearly 30 years, she is a mother of seven children and a grandmother of three. Other then the time devoted to her family she enjoys working with children, church, reading, crafts, and her dogs.

Shadow

Shadow is a Labrador mix. He was born on February 12, 2005. Shadow enjoys the treats and attention that he receives from the patients. He barks to greet people and jumps a bit at the window. He loves his squeaky toys and enjoys chasing tennis balls. Many patients come in asking, or primarily to see Shadow.

Shadow enjoys people, loves to give kisses, and is great with children. Shadow stays in the breezeway and sometimes behind the desk. Shadow only comes out of his area when we let him. Shadow comes to "work" everyday with Dr. Clesner.
